Comics of Ice and Fire

Comics and other art inspired by George R. R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" novels, and the HBO television series "Game of Thrones" ( and other cool stuff )

Season 4 Odds & Ends:

As if a newborn wasn’t challenging enough, we are now living out of boxes and the midst of moving and renovating! Obviously, this creates what I would describe as a “productivity hostile environment”

But I’m not complaining! It’s all good things. I just wish I had more time to put into making you these comics while the show is still airing.

With that said, here are a few mini-comics from the last few episodes. I usually like to spend more time on the artwork, so these are more akin to cleaned up sketches and half-formed ideas. But i love them no less than any other finished comics I’ve done.

5 more sleeps until the finale! See you all then!

Baby Tywin

While working on this week’s comic, I came across this account of GRRM’s reading from forthcoming The World of Ice and Fire of the history of the Westerlands, including and up to Tywin’s rule of the Rock. Found this anecdote hilarious, and apropos of Tywin and Tytos’ relationship, and had to draw this ^_^

"Shortly after, Jeyne gave birth to Tywin. Rumor has it that Tywin bit Tytos on the finger when he tried to rub his head"

The only thing that made me feel anything that’s relatively close to being happy is the bickering big hound/little wolf duo

Oh my GOD.

The fantastic Jeff McComsey, artist of the Tower of Joy comic and the Red Viper vs the Mountain comic preview, has finally completed the full illustrated adaptation of the (IMO) second-most shocking scene in A Storm of Swords — Oberyn Martell’s one-on-one fight with Gregor Clegane in Tyrion Lannister’s trial by battle. Read the rest here — all 12 amazing pages of it.

My absolute favorite depiction of this scene — and I see the artist has even fully colored it now. Highly recommended. (Though full of spoilers, so if you have not yet read the book, I’d avoid following the link before the episode airs.)

Amazing Book depiction of the duel from yesterday’s episode of Game of Thrones by Jeff McComsey!

Now in FULL COLOR!

Season 4 ep.6: “The Laws of Gods and Men”
Hey everyone! Sorry for skipping the comic for Episode 5. The Gods saw fit to give me an heir, so I have been elbow deep in dirty diapers.

Out of necessity, I’ve had to change the weekly comic format from three panels to one. One panel  is 1/3rd the work, and with a newborn baby, free time to draw a comic is nearly impossible. I think 1 panel is manageable, but three would mean me stopping for the season and I’d rather do something rather than nothing.
I’m hoping to go back and finish that episode 5 comic ASAP.
